The Columbine Rebels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They fell 53-40 to Bear Creek. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Columbine of the 58-39 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Despite the defeat, Columbine saw an underclassman step up: Cash Boykin dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 52.5% of Columbine's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Spencer Houle was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Columbine's loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Bear Creek, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-11.
Columbine will head out on the road to square off against Ralston Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bear Creek, they will play host again and welcome Chatfield, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chatfield is coming into the contest with six straight losses on the road, meaning Bear Creek will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
