Victory Christian has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Sperry Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, Victory Christian was fully in charge, breezing past Westville 60-14 on the road. The result was nothing new for Victory Christian, who have now won four matchups by 45 points or more so far this season.
Ayden Hamilton had a dynamite game for Victory Christian, rushing for 178 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries, while also throwing for 202 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Hamilton was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. Another player making a difference was Michael Doctor, who picked up 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Sperry made easy work of Morris on Friday and carried off a 33-12 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sperry.
Brady Benham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 140 yards and three touchdowns.
Sperry's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Their wins bumped Victory Christian to 6-1 and Sperry to 5-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Victory Christian has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 251.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sperry struggles in that department as they've been averaging 176.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Victory Christian against Sperry in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 44-14 win. Will Victory Christian repeat their success, or does Sperry have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
