If Wake Prep Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Wake Forest, they should've done a better job of containing Taylor McCartney. The Cougars walked away with a 60-49 win over the Guardians on Friday for which the team can thank McCartney, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 11 boards. She has been hot recently, having also posted five or more steals the last three times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Zaniya Bell, who posted 12 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Despite the defeat, Wake Prep Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Beanie Ballman had ten points and six steals. Brooklyn Hines was another key player, putting up six points.

The victory made it two in a row for Wake Forest and bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points over those games. As for Wake Prep Academy, their loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.

Wake Forest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-52 defeat against Holly Springs on the 6th. As for Wake Prep Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Woods Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
