It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Midland Legacy Rebels had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They breezed by Montwood at home to the tune of 64-19. Considering Midland Legacy has won five contests by more than 27 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Damien Johnson went supernova for Midland Legacy, rushing for 163 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Another player making a difference was Jaden Rogers, who rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown.
The win (which was Midland Legacy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Montwood, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
Midland Legacy will face off against Trinity at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Trinity is ranked 40th, while Midland Legacy is ranked 28th). Montwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
