Basketball Recap: Hoover Extends Winning Streak to Five

Hoover waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 60-51 victory over the Perry Panthers. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Panthers are ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Perry lost, don't look at Luke Wolf. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 boards. Those 14 boards gave Wolf a new career-high. Drake Jacobsen was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Hoover has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points per game. As for Perry, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoover will venture away from home to face off against McKinley at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in McKinley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests. As for Perry, they will head out to challenge Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Perry is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season.
