This season hasn't been kind to the Hancock Central Bulldogs, who are still winless after their 13th matchup. They fell just short of Johnson County by a score of 44-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Hancock Central has suffered yet this season.
Hancock Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tylecia Tucker, who scored seven points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaliyah Hargrove, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Hancock Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of eight games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Hancock Central's loss was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Johnson County, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hancock Central will challenge Georgia Military College at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Georgia Military College comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Johnson County will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Wilkinson County at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Wilkinson County is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
