Canyon View is 1-7 against Carbon since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Canyon View Falcons will be playing at home against the Carbon Dinos at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Canyon View earned a 54-46 win over Delta.
Canyon View's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maya Nichols led the charge by scoring 11 points along with six steals and five assists. Another player making a difference was Maylee Spencer, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Carbon came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 68-63 W over Emery. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
The match pitted two dominant players against one another in Amiah Timothy and Katelyn Nielson. Timothy had a great game and scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Meanwhile, Nielson was balling out in the loss, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Canyon View is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Carbon, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Canyon View lost to Carbon at home by a decisive 52-38 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Canyon View avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
