The Vista PEAK Prep Bison will head out to square off against the George Washington Patriots at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Vista PEAK Prep took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Rangeview an 11-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bison considering their one-run performance the game before.
Eli Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Karter Robertson was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Zach Varner also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Vista PEAK Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, George Washington made sure to put some runs up on the board against Hinkley on Thursday. The Patriots blew past the Thunder 20-0.
The team relied heavily on Matt Holliger, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Watada, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The victory got George Washington back to even at 7-7. As for Vista PEAK Prep, their record is now 8-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Vista PEAK Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like George Washington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Vista PEAK Prep beat George Washington 7-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Bison repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
