Tallmadge is 2-8 against the Indians since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Tallmadge Blue Devils will be playing at home against the Copley Indians at 1:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Tallmadge comes in on four and the Indians on nine.
Last Friday, Tallmadge sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-41 victory over the Rough Riders. Given Tallmadge's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while the Rough Riders are ranked 361st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Waynedale typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Copley proved too difficult a challenge. They skirted past the Golden Bears 48-46.
It was another big night for Izzy Callaway, who scored 19 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Copley's points. Another player making a difference was Kami Ayoup, who scored 11 points.
Tallmadge pushed their record up to 11-7 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Copley, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season.
Tallmadge might still be hurting after the 67-46 loss they got from the Indians in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Callaway, who scored 29 points. Now that Tallmadge knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time?
