The Serra Catholic Eagles had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They snuck past Riverview with a 65-60 win. Given Serra Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while the Raiders are ranked 555th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Isiah Petty continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 29 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Pete Burke, who scored 19 points along with four steals.
Serra Catholic's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Riverview, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Serra Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Jayhawks at 4:30 p.m. on February 3rd. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Kymone Brown and Petty. As for Riverview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Commodores at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
