South Plantation and Monarch are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2015, but likely not for long. The Paladins will be playing at home against the Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. South Plantation is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
South Plantation took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Pembroke Pines Charter 11-4. The high-scoring effort was just what the Paladins needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Grace Boehly was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Tessa Bertsch was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South Plantation kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pembroke Pines Charter only managed six hits.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, Monarch finally came back down to earth on Friday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pembroke Pines Charter. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Knights haven't been shut out since back in March.
Monarch saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mylie Carlson, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
South Plantation's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Monarch, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-9.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South Plantation hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Monarch struggles in that department as they've averaged .404. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Plantation was able to grind out a solid win over Monarch in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 5-0. Will the Paladins repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
