Denver South scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Wheat Ridge, 17-0. At the time, the Farmers were ranked 17th in the state, while the Rebels were 35th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Wheat Ridge, who took down 17th ranked Wheat Ridge, 17-0. Pete Williams ran for 122 yards and caught three passes for 41 yards in the win.
Aaron Nelson was the most productive running back in 4A Plains this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 138 yards as Dakota Ridge topped Kennedy. Teammate Mark Hall added to the ground attack by rushing for 11 yards.
Jorge Martinez put up the best numbers through the air as the Commanders lost to the Eagles. He finished with a total of six completions for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Martinez's favorite target this week was Erik Crowthers, who caught one pass for 43 yards.
Sanchez was the best wideout in the league this week as Dakota Ridge beat Kennedy. Sanchez racked up three receptions for 74 yards. Josh Morrison helped Dakota Ridge's passing attack out by catching three balls for 48 yards.
Denver South's Malik Tollerson and Orlando Mosley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Tollerson has thrown for 1545 yards this season, while Mosley has 31 catches for 740 yards. Austin Sonju from Littleton leads the league in rushing with 874 yards.
A big matchup in 4A Plains this week will be when Tony Lindsay Sr. 's team takes on Ron Woitalewicz 's team. The Rebels are in third place, while the Eagles are in fourth place.
There should be lots of points scored when Denver South and Dakota Ridge face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Rebels comes in having scored 274 this season, while the Eagles have scored 260. Denver South scored 17 points last week as it defeated Reid Kahl's team.
The Farmers suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after falling to the Rebels. Wheat Ridge had been ranked 17th, but fell to 31.
