The Sandia Prep Sundevils will head out on the road to square off against the Shiprock Chieftains at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Sandia Prep's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
While Sandia Prep didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Hope Christian with a sharp 18-3 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Sundevils, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Shiprock unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Grants by a score of 7-6 on Thursday.
Taleah Phillips made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadyn Benally, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Sandia Prep's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Shiprock, they dropped their record down to 0-1 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Everything went Sandia Prep's way against Shiprock when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Sandia Prep made off with an 18-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sundevils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
