It was a good run, but the Clewiston Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 31-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Okeechobee. Clewiston has not had much luck with Okeechobee recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Clewiston's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kalyn Johnson, who scored eight points along with four steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Tyra Fields was another key contributor, scoring two points along with 16 rebounds.
Justice Shanks was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points for Okeechobee. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Shanks has scored at least a third of Okeechobee's points.
Clewiston's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Okeechobee, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clewiston will take on LaBelle at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. LaBelle is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Okeechobee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Vero Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Vero Beach focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Tuesday.
