The Edgerton Bulldogs will challenge the Patrick Henry Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Edgerton has three straight wins, Patrick Henry has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Edgerton beats Patrick Henry with 13 runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Continental on Thursday.
Braden Leppelmeier made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Edgerton let Maddox Baker and Jackson Flower run wild. Baker went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Flower got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Edgerton is undefeated when Flower posts two or more runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Bryce Schroeder was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.
Edgerton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Continental struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Patrick Henry fell victim to Napoleon and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The shutout was out of character for the Patriots seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.
Edgerton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Patrick Henry, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Edgerton was able to grind out a solid victory over Patrick Henry in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, winning 8-5. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
