The Berrien Rebels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 19th straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 79-40 loss at the hands of Fitzgerald. While losing is never fun, Berrien can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 553rd, while the Purple Hurricane are ranked 266th).
Fitzgerald's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Victor Copeland led the charge by scoring 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Copeland has scored all season. Daniel Harris was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Berrien's loss was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Fitzgerald, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-9.
Berrien will be playing at home against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fitzgerald, they will head out on the road to challenge the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Dodge County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 936 points over their last 13 contests.
