The North Hills Christian Eagles will challenge the Grace Academy Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Hills Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
North Hills Christian blew Crossroads Christian out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Crossroads Christian got their revenge. The Eagles fell just short of the Colts by a score of 4-2. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cohen Benfield was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Grace Academy came out on top against Lake Norman Christian on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run third inning. Grace Academy put the hurt on Lake Norman Christian with a sharp 14-4 victory. The result was nothing new for Grace Academy, who have now won nine contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Fletcher Owens was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Grace Academy is undefeated when Owens posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, Brody Mcnamara was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Grace Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Seth Stanton, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Grace Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The win made it two in a row for Grace Academy and bumps their season record up to 12-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for North Hills Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. North Hills Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Grace Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
North Hills Christian suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Grace Academy in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
