The Millbrook Wildcats will challenge the Wakefield Wolverines at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Millbrook is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Millbrook is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since February 9, 2024 on Friday. They were beaten by Rolesville 78-44. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while the Rams are ranked 49th).

Lucy Ellis put forth a good effort for the losing side as she went 5 for 9 en route to 10 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Ellis is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Hayes, who posted four points and five boards.
Meanwhile, Wakefield was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Wake Forest 65-35. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 29 points or more this season.
Wakefield had a senior duo take command as Maddison McIntyre had 15 points and three steals and Sydney Conti earned 12 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Bagwell, who scored nine points.
Wakefield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.1 points per game. As for Millbrook, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Millbrook has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wakefield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Millbrook came up short against Wakefield when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 55-45.
