The Little River Redskins fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Canton-Galva Eagles on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 48-46. Little River was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Canton-Galva apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.
Little River's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cj Herzog, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Logan Renken was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Little River now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Canton-Galva, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Little River will square off against Central Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Central Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Canton-Galva, they will head out on the road to face off against Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
