Potomac Senior found their leader in sophomore Amani Asare, who went 11 of 23 en route to 34 points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Asare has scored all season. Medwyn Oduko Authur was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.
Meanwhile, Hylton came into Tuesday's match having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They pulled ahead with a 52-51 photo finish over Freedom on Tuesday.
Hylton found their leader in freshman Marshall Scarborough Iv, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 26 points and three steals. Those 26 points gave Scarborough Iv a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Butler, who posted 13 points in addition to five assists and four steals.
Potomac Senior has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Hylton, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 2-14.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Potomac Senior has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Hylton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
