After a string of three wins, the Alexandria Valley Cubs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by Southside 48-18. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Alexandria in their matchups with Southside: they've now lost eight in a row.
Southside had a senior duo take command as Grace Anne rose scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals and Laylah Davis scored 13 points along with two steals. Anne rose hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Mallory Brooks, who scored four points.
Alexandria's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Southside, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.
Alexandria will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Saks at 6:00 p.m. Southside's road trip will continue as they head out to face Plainview on January 22nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Plainview is ranked 25th, while Southside is ranked 36th).
