Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Aubrey Chaparrals, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 34-21 to the Buckeyes on Friday. Aubrey's loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Leading Gilmer to victory were Will Henderson and Cadon Tennison. Henderson rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown, while Tennison rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Tennison really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run.
Aubrey's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Gilmer, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-3.
Aubrey does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gilmer will head out on the road to face off against Carthage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carthage is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Gilmer a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
