4A District 10 recap Oct. 3, 2012
East Jefferson extended the longest winning streak in 4A District 10 this week by beating South Terrebonne, 41-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Warriors.
Riverdale made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,701 from 10,911. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 30-15 victory over Jefferson last week.
Holy Cross's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tucker Herzog threw for 40 and one touchdown and Kevin Spears had 28 yards receiving. On the ground Todd Spriggins chipped in 43 yards. Jason Abide helped Holy Cross' passing attack out by catching two balls for 24 yards.
James Tabary provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Tigers fell to Archbishop Rummel. He completed nine passes for 47 yards and also ran for 24 yards.
Holy Cross' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Tabary has thrown for 638 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Spears has 30 catches for 306 yards. Spriggins leads the league in rushing with 348 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Easton takes on East Jefferson. At the moment, the Eagles are in fourth, while Dominic Saltaformaggio's team is in first.
