Basketball Recap: Pine Ridge Falls Short Against Ranked Rapid City Christian

On Saturday, Pine Ridge faced Rapid City Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The contest between the Pine Ridge Thorpes and the Rapid City Christian Comets didn't end well, with the Pine Ridge Thorpes falling 79-62. The Thorpes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Pine Ridge lost, don't look at Marvin Richard Lll. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Richard Lll's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Steele, who posted 11 points.

With the defeat, Pine Ridge broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3. As for Rapid City Christian, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

When Pine Ridge and Rapid City Christian next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Pine Ridge will try to stop Parkston's three-game winning streak when the meet at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Pine Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 70.2 points per game this season. Similarly, Rapid City Christian will take on Trinity and their four-game winning streak at 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
