The Woodland Regional Hawks suffered their closest loss yet this season on Monday. They fell just short of Waterbury Career Academy by a score of 46-43. Woodland Regional was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Waterbury Career Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2017.
Among those leading the charge was Sierra Brown, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Malinna Figueroa, who scored ten points.
Woodland Regional's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6. As for Waterbury Career Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodland Regional will take on Pomperaug at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pomperaug will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Waterbury Career Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Derby at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
