Aspen and Roaring Fork are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Aspen Skiers are taking a road trip to challenge the Roaring Fork Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Aspen is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
Last Saturday, Aspen earned a 50-43 victory over Delta. Given the Skiers' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Panthers are ranked 198th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Aspen found their leader in sophomore Jack Berro, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. Those 20 points gave Berro a new career-high. Joshua Ford also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Meanwhile, Roaring Fork's and Meeker's contest on Saturday was close at halftime, but Roaring Fork turned on the heat in the second half with 37 points. Roaring Fork breezed by Meeker to the tune of 66-37. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.
Aspen better keep an eye on Lucas Carballeira. He was instrumental in Roaring Fork's win, going 10 for 21 on his way to 25 points and three steals. Carballeira's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Brennan, who posted 11 points and four steals.
Roaring Fork smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.
Roaring Fork pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Aspen, their record now sits at 13-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Aspen has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 30.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Roaring Fork struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Aspen against Roaring Fork in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 67-37 victory. Does Aspen have another victory up their sleeve, or will Roaring Fork turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
