The Charlotte Catholic Cougars pushed their score all the way to 62 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of United Faith Christian Academy. If Charlotte Catholic hoped to take revenge for the 63-58 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Chris Eagan and Eddie David certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Eagan dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds, while David scored 23 points along with three steals. David continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Liam Gates, who scored six points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
United Faith Christian Academy was led to victory by Isaiah Sutherland and JD Bowden. Sutherland scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, while Bowden scored 22 points along with seven assists and two blocks. Dylan Deluca was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Charlotte Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for United Faith Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charlotte Catholic on the road again on Friday and play against Providence at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Providence will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 351st, while Charlotte Catholic is ranked 72nd). As for United Faith Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Veritas Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Veritas Christian Academy's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while United Faith Christian Academy has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
