Gregori and Enochs are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Jaguars will take on the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Gregori sitting on seven straight wins and Enochs on nine.
On Tuesday, Gregori was able to grind out a solid victory over Turlock, taking the game 8-4.
Allyson Conway spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Angelina Hoffman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Ariana Aguirre was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Hoffman wasn't the only one making solid contact: Gregori kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, while Enochs put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Pitman. The Eagles put the hurt on the Pride with a sharp 10-0 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Kaylee Ruiz's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Enochs let Makayla Alailima and Soraya Mendoza run wild. Alailima scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Mendoza scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lillian Camarena, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Gregori's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average this season. As for Enochs, their record now sits at 11-3.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Gregori hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .415. However, it's not like Enochs struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
