Logan Moore made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Loudon is 3-1 when Moore allows three or fewer hits, but 9-15 otherwise. Moore was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Bryer Oody was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted over his last nine games.
Meanwhile, Heritage entered their tilt with South-Doyle on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Cherokees with a sharp 12-2 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Mountaineers have posted against the Cherokees since April 7, 2022.
Derek Hodge looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Hughes, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Webb, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Heritage's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Loudon, their record now sits at 12-16.
Loudon suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Heritage when the teams last played last Tuesday. Can the Redskins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
