The Centreville Wildcats were the 57-34 winner over the Chantilly Chargers when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Centreville suffered a rough 37-14 defeat at the hands of Chantilly on Friday. Centreville just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Jourdan Simpson and Will Shields, Centreville certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Simpson picked up 110 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Shields threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns.
Avery Chow continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chantilly, rushing for 325 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Chow was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Centreville to a paltry 137 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Chantilly's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Chase Smoot and his two sacks.
Centreville has fallen quite a ways from their 10-3 record last season and are now at 2-6. As for Chantilly, their win bumped their record up to 4-4.
Centreville will be playing in front of their home fans against South Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Lakes will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. As for Chantilly, they will head out on the road to face off against Westfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westfield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chantilly in Virginia (Westfield is ranked 41st, while Chantilly is ranked 125th).
