Softball Recap: Arcadia Wins Going Away Against Hoover

After only one run in their last contest, Arcadia made sure to put some runs up on the board against Hoover on Tuesday. The Apaches were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Tornados. Considering the Apaches have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Arcadia got a great performance from Quinn Sullivan as she struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Sullivan a new career-high.

At the plate, Erin Sum was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Arianna Barajas also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Arcadia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.

Arcadia is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8-1 record this season. As for Hoover, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-8.

Coming up, Arcadia will venture away from home to square off against Pasadena at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Apaches' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season. As for Hoover, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Muir at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Tornados' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
