The Northside Vikings will head out to face off against the Pulaski County Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Northside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Northside came out on top against Franklin County on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Eagles 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.
Camden Spangler made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Spangler was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Northside got a massive performance out of Brett Taylor, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that Taylor has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Hartman, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Northside lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Pulaski County had taken Lord Botetourt down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Cougars fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 11-10. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jude Garrett and Bryce Beeler did some serious damage despite the final result: Garrett went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Beeler went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Souder, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Pulaski County now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Northside, their record is now 7-2.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. However, it's not like Pulaski County struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northside might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Pulaski County when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
