Basketball Recap: Palmer Drops Highest Score of Season Against West Tallahatchie

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Palmer). They walked away with a 70-60 win over the West Tallahatchie Choctaws on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Dragons who have now won three games in a row.

Palmer got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jalean Tweedy out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Tweedy's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cornelius Emerson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Despite the defeat, West Tallahatchie saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Roosevelt Phillips dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Phillips has scored all season. Jayden Sample was another key player, going 7 of 17 on his way to 19 points and three steals.

Palmer's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for West Tallahatchie, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Palmer wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-63 defeat against West Tallahatchie on the 18th. As for West Tallahatchie, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-62 loss against South Delta on the 17th.
