The Somerset Academy Key Lions pushed their score all the way to 55 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a tough 75-55 loss at the hands of St. John Paul II Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Somerset Academy Key in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.
Keeshon Ramsey and Sharmah Petigny certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Ramsey dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Petigny scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Petigny has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Reggie Fleurissaint, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Leading St. John Paul II Academy to victory were Dior Johnson and Bryan Jean. Johnson scored 15 points along with three steals, while Jean scored 18 points along with four blocks. Rowan Linder was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Somerset Academy Key's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for St. John Paul II Academy, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somerset Academy Key will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st. As for St. John Paul II Academy, they will take on the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Coconut Creek is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
