The Lytle Pirates put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Jones with a sharp 74-50 victory. Given Lytle's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Jones is ranked 1189th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lytle's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Guevara, who scored 17 points along with 3 steals. Guevara is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Pierce, who scored 15 points along with 7 rebounds.
Lytle's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Jones, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Lytle's road trip will continue as they head out to face Tournament Opponent at 12:00 p.m. on December 1st. Tournament Opponent has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 25. As for Jones, they will head out on the road to face off against Young Men's Leadership Academy at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Hopefully Young Men's Leadership Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
