It was a close one, but on Friday Mt. Vernon sidestepped Marshfield for a 14-12 win. The margin of victory was a little narrower than expected seeing as Mt. Vernon are ranked 75 places ahead of Marshfield in the state rankings.
The victory bumped Mt. Vernon's record up to 3-0. The defeat dropped Marshfield's record to 2-1.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Mt. Vernon will look to defend their home turf next week against Reeds Spring at 7:00 PM. As for Marshfield, they will face off against Springfield Catholic.
