Basketball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for Mogollon

Mogollon extended their home winning streak to six games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Kindsey Porter. The Mogollon Mustangs were the clear victor by a 59-35 margin over the Ash Fork Spartans on Saturday thanks in part to Porter, who posted 21 points and six steals. Those 21 points gave her a new career-high.

Another player making a difference was Marissa Parry, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 15 points and four steals. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Despite the defeat, Ash Fork saw an underclassman step up: freshman Isabella Acosta had eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Acosta is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season.

Mogollon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.7 points per game. As for Ash Fork, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7.

Mogollon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 38-31 win against St. Johns on the 14th. Ash Fork has also already played their next game (against Mayer), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
