The Fairfield Lions were the 62-46 winner over the Peebles Indians when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Fairfield fell 56-45 to Peebles on Wednesday.
Payton Johnson was a one-man wrecking crew for Peebles as she dropped a double-double on 36 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Peebles' points. Another player making a difference was Angel Gray, who scored 5 points.
Fairfield has fallen quite a ways from their 19-6 record last season and are now at 1-2. As for Peebles, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairfield will take on Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington at 7:30 p.m. on December 7th. As for Peebles, they will play host again and welcome North Adams, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
