Basketball Recap: Cody Humphries Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

Pinnacle Classical Academy's game on Friday was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They enjoyed a cozy 52-35 victory over the Challenger Firebirds. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 63-42 back in November.

Pinnacle Classical Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cody Humphries, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards. Humphries is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Connor Susigan, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Pinnacle Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Challenger's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Annis, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 12 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Braelon Roe, who posted 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Pinnacle Classical Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Challenger, they moved to 4-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, Pinnacle Classical Academy and Challenger will both be playing Lake Lure Classical Academy the next time they take the court. Challenger will head out to face Lake Lure Classical Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Pinnacle Classical Academy will host them at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
