Amador Valley is a perfect 7-0 against Dougherty Valley since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Dons will venture away from home to face off against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Dougherty Valley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Amador Valley, who comes in off a win.
On Wednesday, Amador Valley needed a bit of extra time to put away James Logan. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over the Colts. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Dons have posted since April 10th.
The team relied heavily on McKenna Charbonneau, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Seltzer, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Amador Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as James Logan only managed seven hits.
Meanwhile, Dougherty Valley lost 11-3 to Foothill on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly eight runs.
Dougherty Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Osborn, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
This is the second loss in a row for Dougherty Valley and nudges their season record down to 8-6. As for Amador Valley, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Amador Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Dougherty Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Amador Valley took their win against Dougherty Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
