Softball Recap: Kennewick Has No Trouble Against Hermiston

Kennewick made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hermiston, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Lions were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Bulldogs on Friday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Arianna Ames looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rylee Bendewald, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Addison Fielder was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI.

Kennewick hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive games.

Kennewick is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Hermiston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Kennewick beat Hermiston by a score of 24-18 later that day.
