Cibola is a perfect 10-0 against Kofa since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Raiders are taking a road trip to square off against the Kings at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Monday, Cibola got the win against Westwood by a conclusive 12-3. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
Alessandra Martinez tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cameron Kasid was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Angelica Arellano was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Cibola kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Kofa made easy work of Yuma on Wednesday and carried off an 18-2 victory.
The team relied heavily on Haley Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Veronica Zazueta, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.
Cibola has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kofa, their record now sits at 6-12.
Kofa's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cibola has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Kofa, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Cibola's sizable advantage in that area, the Kings will need to find a way to close that gap.
Cibola took their victory against Kofa in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
