Valencia (Placentia, Calif.) and
El Dorado (Placentia, Calif.) both tightened up defensively, but Valencia managed to score enough to pull out the 14-7 victory.
The Tigers scored on two rushing touchdowns to secure the victory.
The teams went into the locker room at halftime deadlocked at seven. Valencia took the lead for good on a
Gabriel Perez touchdown run with 8:00 remaining in the third quarter.
Perez played well for VHS in the victory. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns.
The Golden Hawks' lone touchdown came on a run in the second quarter.
The Tigers got revenge for last year's 38-22 loss to El Dorado with the victory.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Valencia, which was coming off a 13-10 defeat at the hands of Sonora in its previous game. The loss comes after El Dorado defeated Fullerton 49-28 last week. The victory snapped VHS's 2-game losing streak.
Valencia (2-2) will play a non-conference game against Kennedy next week, while El Dorado (1-3) will take on Canyon in a Century game.
