It was a good run, but the Pine Grove Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Belmont by a score of 47-45. Pine Grove was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Belmont apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Belmont found their leader in underclassman Khalil Luster, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The match was Luster's 14th in a row with at least ten points.
Pine Grove's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Belmont, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine Grove will take on Houlka at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Belmont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mantachie at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Mantachie knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 games -- so hopefully Belmont likes a good challenge.
