Baldwin County has gone a perfect 10-0 against Gulf Shores recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Dolphins at 7:00 p.m. Baldwin County will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
On Friday, Baldwin County needed a bit of extra time to put away Faith Academy. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Rams. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.
Julianna Thompson spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Madisyn Williams, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke McGowin, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Gulf Shores had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Gators by a score of 6-3.
Anna Leigh Price was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. Price was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Madi Nelson was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Kayleigh Jacks was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Gulf Shores was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are 12-2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Baldwin County's victory bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Gulf Shores, their win bumped their record up to 21-13-1.
Baldwin County took their victory against Gulf Shores in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 7-0 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dolphins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
