The Baboquivari Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 67-41 walloping at the hands of Rincon/University. Baboquivari was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rincon/University apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Baboquivari lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kara Baptisto, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Baptisto scored a full 36.6% of Baboquivari's points, the 13th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Samantha Ortiz was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Rincon/University found their leader in underclassman Leila O'Dowd, who scored 38 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The matchup was O'Dowd's 17th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jada Cameron, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Baboquivari has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Rincon/University, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Tanque Verde the next time they take the court. Baboquivari will head out to face Tanque Verde at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, while Rincon/University will head out to face them at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
