Softball Recap: Gonzales Wins Going Away Against Pajaro Valley

Gonzales's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 29-6 margin over the Pajaro Valley Grizzlies. Considering the Spartans have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Gonzales got a massive performance out of Mariana Camarena, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and one triple. Camarena is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Alizah Garcia, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gonzales kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 26 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Gonzales has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Pajaro Valley, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-11.

Gonzales has already played their next contest, a 15-3 win against Marina on the 14th. As for Pajaro Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 17-1 loss against Monte Vista Christian on the 13th.
