The Christian Community Warriors waltzed into their matchup Thursday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They greeted the New Year with with a 58-44 win over Horizon Science Academy. That's another feather in the cap for Christian Community, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Grant Doeringer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double on 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 steals. Doeringer is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew McKee, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Christian Community pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27 points. As for Horizon Science Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Christian Community will take on Lake Ridge Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Lake Ridge Academy is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Horizon Science Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against East Tech at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in East Tech's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
