It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but East Jordan had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Bellaire Eagles as they made off with an 18-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won 19 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Korbyn Russell made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, William Webb and Jacob Haley did most of the damage at the plate: Webb went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Haley went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Webb is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Brenden Aenis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
East Jordan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in six consecutive games.
East Jordan pushed their record up to 26-7 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.1 runs over those games. As for Bellaire, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-6-1 record.
As of now, neither East Jordan nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
