Union County has gone a perfect 3-0 against Bronson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Fightin' Tigers will head out to challenge the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Union County will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Union County and Dixie County had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Fightin' Tigers were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Bears on Thursday. The Fightin' Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.
Mackenzie Orton was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Jailyn Simmons was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Union County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Bronson can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Newberry.
Julianne Lampton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Makenna Dean, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Brystal Howard, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Union County pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Bronson, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Union County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like Bronson struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Union County took their win against Bronson when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 13-6 score. Will the Fightin' Tigers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
